We're happy to add yet another incense to our ever-expanding and improving library.  This fellow is Dharana Sutra.  This is a remarkable incense that is profound testimony to the potential elegance of bass notes in fragrances.  Dharana Sutra'  fragrance profile is a deep, winding complex of tunnels that offer sandalwood, vetivert, and crisp resinous notes.  It certainly has certain similarities to the much beloved Ambica heaven.

It is available in house and for phone order at this time.  It will be available for on line orders quite soon.

Concert on our front lawn with Invasion 65

We have a gig coming up on our front lawn.  This concert features the remarkable band, Invasion 65.  They are a British invasion tribute band.  They have been gigging all around the area and we are quite happy to have them here.  The show gets going on Saturday, October 3rd at 4pm and goes to 6pm.  It's a family friendly event, so come all.

Here's the link to the event page on Facebook.  Check it out.
We are happy to once again offer a most unusual class on the introduction of the metaphysical properties of various stones.  Our instructor, Marion is a seemingly ever filled font of information on things metaphysical.  She will lead a relaxed discussion on what properties these stones posses.  There are so very few spots in this class, so we do urge that one register asap.  We collect $25 per student to cover our instructor.

It will be on Saturday, September 26th from 2-4pm

For those who loved the Auric Blends Egyptian Goddess but cannot find it, you can now rejoice.  We found a young line of fragrance oils that has an Egyptian musk that is more than just a replacement. We are all in agreement that this new one, Egyptian Queen is significantly superior to the Goddess. There are six in the line so far and they are just wonderful.

Here's the link to Egyptian Goddess, but be sure to give the rest of the line a look.

Where are the fragrance oil? Our faithful suppliers seem to have vanished without a trace. Their Claude Rains act was preceded with a significant drop in quality...also inexcusable. That void is slowly being filled with a new, perhaps superior company, Shadow Scents. As of now, there are six in the line. One such is Egyptian Queen, a classic Egyptian musk to replace Egyptian Goddess. It's identical to the Egyptian Goddess before the quality drop of recent. Others include Dragon's Blood, Love, Nag Champa, Patchouli (natch). and Royal Amber. They're all just beautiful and worth a go. They will be on our websight for order soon, but they are available in shop or for phone order.

Our tree of labor continues to yield delectable fruit.  In this case, it's another glorious incense.  This one is Yama Sutra.  Yama Sutra harkens back to the old Satya incense we used to get in those suspiciously unmarked red 250gram boxes.  It differs in that it is a considerably deeper, more refined, distilled fragrance than the original Satya.  It offers a perfectly balanced chocolate/vanilla/caramel fragrance that carefully sweetens the air without being too heavy.  The series of incenses from which this comes continues to delight and astonish all of us here.

We're adding yet another incense to our selections.  This one's another big fellow.  It's King of Frankincense.  It's an elegant, understated, dry, crisp frankincense.  If you are looking for a clean, lemony, resinous frankincense based incense, this is it.

We have been somewhat frustrated in finding a supplier of high grade essential oils that doesn't require us to purchase huge quantities or overcharges for small quantities.  Our efforts have been rewarded.  O.K., it required us to fill our own bottles and such, but it was well worth it.  What we're especially excited about it they have a natural process by which many of their citrus oils can be concentrated into an explosively wonderful fragrance.  We are starting out slowly and we will be adding more as we move on.  We are also enthralled about a particular French Lavender that they have.  It packs a powerful therapeutic, anti-microbial punch with a truly spectacular lavender nose.  It is rare to find both in one lavender oil.  We grabbed this one with both hands.

Another new incense in the Satya line...Egyptian Musk

Satya Egyptian Goddess provided us with an unexpected result, but wonderful none the less.  This incense liberated a very lightly sweet, subtle musk with overtones of cherrywood and caramel.  We were all surprised with its elegance and subtlety.

A New incense in the Satya line...60's Patchouli

Some new items have been added to the famed Satya line of incenses.  The first one we would like to introduce you to is Satya 60's Patchouli.  It's a remarkable, lightly sweet, bright and earthy fragrance with that head shop, black light room quality that will bring you right back to that time.

Sittin' plush with a royal flush...we just got in the 2016 calendars.  We were counting the seconds, waiting for their arrival.  Here's the catch...we ran completely out of them well before the holidays.  That said I wouldn't fiddle around much before grabbing calendars.  I say this not to pressure anyone, but to give fair warning.  They're real, and they're spectacular

We just got through a nice, dense little parcel of incenses.  It's always nice to refill some empty bins.  We were able to replenish the following:
Nikhil's Govinda Govinda, Balaji Focus, Champaka, HEM Flora Jasmine, Sunanadaraja, Precious Sandal, Kin-Kaku, Kyo-Nishiki, Sital Super Sandal, Precious Green, and Vidwan.  Soon, we will be refilling saffron, petal rose and Divine Flora.

We just got in some tix to a tremendous gig.  We have them at $27 cash and $30 for plastic.

Here's an interesting event. It's our first toddlers' drum circle. It is planned for Saturday August 29th from 10am-11:30am. Everyone brings their own drums or whatever you like to make noise with. Naturally, adults must accompany the kids as long as they are here and certainly may join in. Age range is 3-5 years, but if a bit older, no worries.  Older siblings and friends are also welcome to get in on it. Let's make a righteous noise!

We're now set to roll out a new incense selection.  It's from the same folks that create the famed Nag Champa Gold  This one is Absolut Sandal.  In our experience, we have never had anything remotely like it.  It's deep, semi-sweet, rich, and complex.  This is some next level kind of stuff.  It may change what you expect of an incense.

Bear Lights are back...

We're quite happy to have these little fellows back in again.   Yes, they are a string of lights, but I hope nobody thinks that we're pushing the holiday thing too early.  They're also nifty lights for parties, illumination and nightlights and such.  We have plenty of time (not really) to think about the holidays.

SMUDGING   blog 2
Before you take any action with this strong and powerful ritual, consider your intention.
Keep this thought clearly in your mind.  Smudging should be done with care and reverence along with a positive attitude and that of love.

The flame from a candle is recommended to light the smudge that the bundle starts to smoke.  If there is a flame blow it out so that the smudge bundle is smoldering and not burning.   When smudging a room, after the bundle is smoking, you walk around the perimeter of the room.  Give special attention to the corners and the places behind doors.  You can also fan the smoke through the room with a large smudge feather.  If you wish, you may state a payer of gratitude  for the cleansing and keep in mind your intention of removing negativity during the ritual,

Many people like to break off loose leaves and a candle may be used for them as well.  In the very near future, Dr. Seth will have, along with the wonderful hand-made ceramic incense burners, smudge pots for the use of Smudging rituals.

SMUDGING    blog 1

Over the years I have sold many bundles of sage and for the most part my customers knew what it was that they wanted to do with it and how they would and why they would “smudge” their environment.  It has come to my attention that there is an interest in this activity.  I will give some information and I am not professing to say these are the total of reasons and/ or activities of this technique.  It is just a small taste of a ritual that is many centuries old and used in many different ways with different herbs.

At Woodstock, we have provided Sage for most of our customers Smudging techniques.  Smudging is the name given to the cleansing technique from Native American.  This tradition of burning herbs for emotional, physical and spiritual cleansing is practiced among many religious, healing and spiritual traditions.  It is a ceremonial way to cleanse a person, place or object of negative energies.

Smudging can be helpful for when you feel depressed, angry, and/or resentful.  You can smudge your home, work space or crystals to remove negative energy.

In blog Smudging blog 2 I will talk about how to perform a smudging technique

Happy Hari Nag Champa Gold

We're still trying to accept the fantastic reality that we now have the famed Happy Hari Nag Champa Gold in our little store.  For so much time, it didn't seem it would happen.  The legwork paid off.  We're looking at one of very few true halmaddi-based incenses. What does that mean?  We're talking true champas, here.  It has an ethereal, chiffon soft fragrance without losing the depth and substance of a true champa.

It will soon be available for on line orders.  Until then, give a call.   856-424-6166. It comes in packs of 7-8 sticks at $4 per pack.  It's not cheap, but it's not cheap.  In some time, more amazing, fragrances will be arriving from Happy Hari.  Many of these will forever change your understanding of what incenses can be.

Much Love...so much that you'll have to give some away...

The Lawn Is Open For Music!

For the past month, we have been trying to get our summer concerts started, only to be delayed.  All the delays have been out of our control.  From illness to bad weather, it just seemed like Woodstock Trading Company wouldn’t get to have our lawn concerts.  As July 4th approached, along with the final performances of the Grateful Dead, we were determined to get a show in to honor the Dead’s 50 anniversary.  Not only would we have a great lawn concert on the 4th of July, we would have a day filled with the Grateful Dead.  Excitement was in the air. That was until we saw the weather reports.  The reports fluctuated all week between 20% chance of rain and 70% chance.  We did our “anti-rain dance” and kept our fingers crossed.  Making a decision a few days or day before seemed impossible.  We pressed on.

Saturday came along. The sun was out, the rain clouds seemed far off as Franny and The Jugband set the stage.  Then it started to get dark.  The band tried to hold out.  We were getting nervous.  People started to show and the phone was ringing. The big question was, “is the show happening?”  Rain was slowly coming down, but Franny gave the nod.  2 songs in and the rain wasn’t stopping.  The Jugband went into “Bertha”, everything changed.  The clouds began to move and sunlight started to peak through. “Bertha” scared the rain away and the lawn began to fill with more people.  With the help of The Jugband, Woodstock had an amazing celebration of the Grateful Dead.  It was a proper “thank you”!

We have more concerts planned.  On July 25th, a great group by the name of Rock-Improv-A-Ganza will be here to take over the lawn.  The Improv guys will be here with comedian, Jason Pollock, to give us a one-of-a-kind show filled with fun, games, creativity, and laughter.  This event is for all ages. We also have plans for the Garlic Festival and a 60s British Invasion Tribute.  Keep a close eye on our Facebook page, Newsletters, and Events Page for more info.  If you haven’t signed up for our newsletter, just follow the “WTC Newsletter” page to the left.
